Sat on the Rocks

Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight: not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;

not domineering, but by being examples.

1 Peter 5:2-3

put God’s flock first."

Jeff Shirley, a Tabor, Iowa native, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Gulf War before returning to his hometown in 2002. He and his family joined Vine Street Bible Church after connecting with Pastor Evan Welcher and have been active members since. As an elder, Jeff is committed to leading the church and letting Christ's light shine through his actions. His faith guides his work, focusing on doing "good works" as a reflection of Christ's salvation. Jeff enjoys family activities and believes in the importance of love and God's Word in transforming lives. His favorite Scripture is Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Nathaniel Johnson was raised in Colorado, where he felt an early call to ministry. After studying Pastoral Ministry at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul, he returned to Colorado, where he met his wife, Katelyn. They later moved to the Omaha area to be closer to family. For 18 years, Nathaniel has worked in facility management and maintenance, always guided by his faith in Christ. He believes in working as unto the Lord and trusts in God's provision. At Vine Street Bible Church, Nathaniel assists with the church's mission and vision, including occasional teaching and preaching. His favorite scripture is Lamentations 3:22-24, and he is a proud father of three girls.

Gale Bingham was raised in Nevada, Iowa. She has now found her spiritual home at Vine Street, where she uses her musical talents to uplift the congregation and open hearts to God’s word. Her faith is central to her life, guiding her both in her role at the church and in her work as a healthcare professional at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.

Gale lives with her husband in a farmhouse in Malvern, where she enjoys gardening, bird-watching, and spending time with family. Her favorite scripture, John 6:35-40, reflects her deep commitment to following Christ and sharing His love with others.

Sarah Hood has lived in the Omaha metro since she was 7. She moved to Glenwood in 2017 and has enjoyed making the small community her home. She has been married since 2010 and has a son and daughter, whom she homeschools. What drives her as the administrator is her deep belief that God is in charge and wants what's best for His church. Her favorite Scripture is Phillipians 4:8. Her other passions include singing, dancing, crocheting, and diamond art.
